You get what you tolerate.

“You get what you tolerate.” I read that somewhere once. One area of my life where I think that’s true is tidiness. I have a certain threshold for mess and disorder and once I reach the limit, I spend some time cleaning up the mess. I don’t do anything until it bothers me. If you want to fix or change something, be more bothered.

I lived in a lower income neighborhood in San Francisco and I was surprised at how much longer the lines were allowed to get at the post office and at the Safeway in that neighborhood compared to other neighborhoods. Perhaps it was because they came from countries where it was normal to have lines that long at the post office. Perhaps it was because they didn’t know they could complain.
