When I studied philosophy, I used to be afraid that I would read all of the background literature, understand it, and then have nothing to say. Nothing to add except, “I agree with that person who disagrees with that other person.”
But as I kept reading philosophy, I found that this was almost never the case. I almost always had my two cents to add to the conversation.
Don’t be afraid that you will have nothing to contribute. Just be afraid of having something to contribute and not contributing.
