Things I l Learned from My Father (#5): Work isn’t everything

My father was good at his job but he didn’t particularly enjoy it. He would rather spend time with family than time at work. When we were little, he had to work the night shift and he would record audio tapes for us of him reading stories to us. We listened to them before we went to bed while he was at work. When we were in high school, he asked to go down to 4 days a week instead of 5 so that he could watch more of our soccer and volleyball games. Looking back on it, I’m sure he doesn’t regret that, and I’m grateful for having been shown that there are more important things in life than work.
